We've got Answers
Think of this page as your go-to guide for everything tattoo at The Inked Edit.
From “does it hurt?” to “how do I look after my new ink?”, we’ve pulled together the questions we hear most often and answered them in plain English. If your question isn’t here, don’t worry, Jasmine is only a consultation away and always happy to chat.

01
Do I need to book a consultation before getting a tattoo?
Yes, all tattoos begin with a free consultation. This gives you a chance to discuss your ideas with Jasmine, explore styles and placements, and ask any questions before moving forward.
02
How long does a consultation take?
Most consultations take around 20 to 30 minutes. They’re relaxed, private and designed to make sure you feel comfortable and fully prepared.
03
Can I bring reference images or ideas to my consultation?
Absolutely. Photos, sketches, mood boards or even rough notes are all helpful starting points. Jasmine will use these to understand your vision and create a design that’s personal and unique.
04
Is getting a tattoo painful?
Pain is a natural part of the tattooing process, but the level of discomfort varies from person to person. Most people describe the feeling as a scratching or buzzing sensation rather than sharp pain. Factors like your personal pain tolerance, the location of the tattoo, and the size or detail of the design can all influence how it feels. Areas with more muscle or fat tend to be less sensitive, while spots over bone or with thinner skin may feel more intense.
Jasmine works carefully to keep you as comfortable as possible and many people find the process more manageable than they expected. If you’re nervous, we’ll guide you through it and make sure you’re at ease throughout your session.
05
How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Eat a good meal beforehand, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol or blood-thinning medication. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed is also recommended.
06
How much will my tattoo cost?
Pricing depends on the size, style, and detail of the design. Jasmine will provide a clear estimate during your consultation.
07
How long will my tattoo take to heal?
Most tattoos take two to four weeks to heal on the surface, although full healing can take a few months. Following the aftercare advice will help ensure the best results.
08
Is The Inked Edit a licensed studio?
Yes. The Inked Edit operates from a private, licensed tattoo suite within Brown & White – Dunmow, ensuring the highest standards of safety and hygiene.
09
Can I bring a friend to my appointment?
You’re welcome to bring a friend for support, but due to the private nature of the studio space, we ask that only one guest accompany you.
